On Vanity

30 06 2007
When I took the vanity test, I concluded that I am not vain. I think I have to take it back. I’m vain… but not quite to myself. It has something to do with my daughter heehee!

Look at this photo. I’ve done her hair this way in the morning. It should match her dress in any way. And with this style, it took me more than 30 minutes to finish it. I wanted it neat and even. To make it possible, I had to give her bunches of trinkets to keep her busy and sit still. And I didn’t care no matter messy the bed was with all the scattered trinkets for as long as I have her attention.

Same goes with my hair. May it be short or long, I still take so much of time in front of the mirror. And I will end up having it tied up hehehe!

Sweet

30 06 2007

It may not have the fanciest or sweetest look, but…. that was the sweetest cake I’ve ever had in my life. Simply because it’s our wedding cake.

TGIF

30 06 2007
Whenever Thursdays come, TGIF comes to my mind. No, not the restaurant. Literally, the Thank God It’s Friday meaning. Here in the Middle East, our weekend starts on Wednesdays. For some lucky people, they don’t have to work on this day. It’s an official off for them. But not for me and my husband. Friday is the only full day that we could spend with our daughter.

We got up at 8:30 a.m. but not Deye. She did later than that. Made her fave “lugaw” (porridge). D went to market right after he had his morning rituals. When Deye got up, he wasn’t there anymore. So she asked me “Dada, gone?” Wow! She knows what gone means already! Hehehe! Fed her. Gave her bath. After brushing her teeth, I grabbed her bath gel and started washing her body. As small bubbles were forming, she said “babush, babush” hahaha! Babush as in gay lingo’s bye-bye, but she actually meant “bubbles” hahaha! D came at around 10:30 a.m. When she saw him, she again said to him another word “kayi”. I was like “what kayi?” D said, Mama, that means “carry” hehehehe! (Anyway, this is supposed to be for her Deyectionary Updates but I mentioned them here already).

D played Chef as usual. He normally does on Fridays as I need to look after Deye. It was nearly 1 p.m. when I got a call from work saying that the driver was on his way to pick up the cupboard that belongs to the company. I was returning it to them. Before D could come back, I managed to put Deye to sleep.

D came with the last load of stuff from the old flat. We had lunch first and then I started sorting the things out. I’ve gathered the old clothes in one box and we gave it away to Church that evening. Instead of handing them down to some relatives, we thought that it would be better just to donate them and make other people happy.

7 p.m. we went straight to Church. Then had our dinner in one of the Indian Restaurants in town. I had the usual Pav Baji and Deye shared it with me. I wonder how she takes it! It was really spicy, but she did! She had it with “lassi”, a yogurt drink.

Then, off to the Souq. We bought her a “crawling baby doll”. While waiting for a cab to go home, we captured her on video. I didn’t realize that it wasn’t a safe place as she was running around the ground. Watch it here and you’ll know what I am saying…

We headed home after that and played with her new crawling doll till the batteries went dead hahahaha! She wouldn’t stop!

Boring Friday eh? That’s why we already planned to take her to a park next week for a change.

Greymom’s Request

30 06 2007
Due to Greymom’s request, here’s my one-week-old photo hahaha! I’m sure by now, alam mo na…
By the way, the lavender top that I was wearing there ages 8 years already. Would you believe that? I kept it for like a couple of years ago, that was the time when I looked anorexic hehehe! Two weeks ago, I found it in one of the old clothes boxes that we had from the old flat. I tried it on again! Hmmmm, still looks okay. Washed it right away and dyaraaaaaaaaaan!

Most of my things are well-kept. I’m just good at it, I guess. That will be one of the advantages if you are a “senti” heehee!

I Signed Up For PPP

30 06 2007
I just signed up for PayPerPost today!

It was CeeFive who actually told me about PPP a month ago but I was hesitant to join thinking that I might not be able to do it.

Today another friend of mine told me about it and said “since you’re into blogging, why don’t you join PPP?” She even mentioned about her co-teacher of Living and Loving who is earning from PPP for a year now.

Let’s see then… I still don’t know how it really works hehehe!

DIY Arts & Crafts For Kids

28 06 2007
We (Me and my husband) were discussing last night on how fast Deye catches up the things that she sees/hears. She seems to be a fast learner. My husband said that I should read her a story before going to bed.

I decided to search online this morning. I’m sure there are free templates around the net. And look what I’ve found! DLTK’s Educational Activities. Everything is DIY arts and crafts, the best part is…… it’s absolutely free and printable with instructions. Not only that, I also found Mrs. Jones helpful links.

I’ve printed 4 mini books already hehehe!

So, I’m sharing these freebies to all the mommy bloggers out there! Enjoy!

SAHM : Superwoman

28 06 2007
For some people, a working mom is a counterpart of wonder woman. Imagine, working 8 hours or more a day, 6 times a week. Then another duty starts as they come home. And when the kids fall sick, you have to attend to them. If they stay awake, you have to be awake no matter how tired you were for the day. Then get up early for work. That’s what I’m going through everyday. I’m just lucky to have a supportive and helpful husband with me all the time.

But hey! If a working mom is a counterpart of wonder woman, I think a stay at home mom is a counterpart of super woman. I think they deserve to be rewarded even in some simple ways. Let them know that they are very much appreciated. I remember Sassy Lawyer Mom posted that SAHM are saints. I think so too! Imagine, dedicating your full time 24/7 to your family. It’s the toughest unpaid job ever! It’s not an easy job! Don’t you think so???

You know what? I never considered myself becoming a SAHM. For some selfish reasons. I’ve always told my parents that when I get married I’ll make sure that I won’t ever give up my job, ever! Reasons? What if my marriage won’t work? Who will provide our needs? Etc. What if “malosyang” ako? My husband would definitely find someone else.

But that was before…. Nung maging nanay ako, everything changed.

Two months ago, my daughter got really sick. It happened right after we came from our vacation backhome. I had to stay at home for almost a week. Priorities first. Told myself, “bahala na, madami namang trabaho dyan pero ang buhay ng anak ko iisa lang”. If they fire me, at least I know I’ve made the right decision. Fortunately, boss didn’t say anything. But what if it happens again? Would he tolerate? I don’t think so…

Every time my daughter falls sick, “napapraning” ako! I know one thing na kahit gaano sila kaclose sa tatay nila or sa grandparents, they still long for their mothers and would choose to be with us whenever they are not well.

Few days ago, I suffered from a severe cold/flu. My daughter got it already. Kahit gustuhin kong di lumapit sa kanya, there’s no one else to look after her. Husband goes to work at night.

This morning she was crying when she saw me dressed up for work, which is not normal. Everyday, she would even say “babay” and give flying kisses as I leave the house. But you see, when she’s sick, she tends to be a mommy’s girl… And with that look, napapabilis ang labas ko ng bahay. It breaks my heart thinking na dapat ako yung andun at hindi ang yaya.

But right now I can only do so much. Make everything up to her when I come home. I have to work. We’re not both from a well-off family and they still need our support once in a while.

I just wish… one day I’d have the courage to totally change my role, from an Executive Secretary to a 24/7 SAHM, like Mommy Feng. What if I won’t be wearing lipstick anymore? I’m sure my world will be more colourful even without it…
