Content Management

26 10 2007

We’ve been encountering errors in our mail servers recently. God knows what happened that we could not receive and send emails so suddenly.

During the time when I had my one week leave, I was hoping that I should still be able to read the emails that I missed during that period when I come back. To my surprise, the server was changed without even informing us prior to that. And there was no way that I could retrieve my previous emails (well, that was according to our IT guy). I was so pissed off about what happened as I’ve been receiving same replies from my suppliers that they have already sent the requirements I was asking for when I actually did not receive any of the emails that they were talking about.

Just this morning I had a chat with our main IT guy and suggested him that he should try using content management that I’ve seen on the internet. Through this he could archive all the incoming mails and avoid the previous incident at the same time.

Keeping In Touch

26 10 2007

I’ve always wanted to buy a laptop for myself but never got the chance to have one. Soon, hubby is leaving and the only cheapest means of communication that we could have is through chatting. I heard that in the place where he’s going, laptop ranges from $700 above, good deal eh?

That’s why I told him to get one as soon as he gets there and I will take the desktop home with me. If I get lucky, then maybe I’ll get my own laptop too! When? That I do not know yet hahaha!

If I knew that he’ll be going by the end of next month, I would have taken the one that my colleague was selling before they left Bahrain. It was slightly used but he had to give it up because he needed extra cash before they went to Australia.

Anyway, let’s see if my husband gets a better deal when he reaches there…

Window Improvement

26 10 2007

My paternal ancestral house is still up but it really looks ancient especially the windows. It still has this capiz and wooden frame design. It’s really out of style already. I told my cousin who is taking care and staying there at the moment to have the windows replaced, for a start. But she thinks that replacing them will cost a lot and that it will take time to have them completed. I told her that nowadays you get this “replacement windows” that are quickly installed, and mind you they are of high quality. So even if you really spend for it, it’s worth your money. After all you are the one staying there so what’s the fuss about spending something for it?! Besides we should really pay attention in improving our house windows. Just like how the saying goes, “beauty is in the eyes of the beholder” > Eyes being the window of your home.

Cash Advance

26 10 2007

We’ve been thinking to migrate to somewhere else. But we lack of cash at the moment. Moving somewhere means we need to leave where we are working now. So there’s no way our employer would grant us a company loan anymore. Another option is to apply for a bank loan. But… one of the rules that major banks imply here is “pay everything as you leave the place”. That’s not possible either.

As I was browsing the internet yesterday, I stumbled upon an online lender and they offer cash advance.

If worst comes to worst, I might just have to consider this… I know there’s always a risk of getting money from lenders but if this would ease our financial burden to get to where we want to be, I’m willing to take the risk. Life is all but risk anyway. If you don’t try, you won’t succeed. Who knows it’s worth trying for!

Window Blinds

26 10 2007

Improving your home is not always as easy as how you expect it. There are many things to consider like complementing the wall color with your curtains and table covers. If I have to do it, I’d prefer a plain type of fabric. At least it would match even with your ornaments. Though curtains are manageable to wash, I’d rather use blinds for one simple reason, they are easily fitted to most windows.

Same here in the office, when my boss asked me to order curtains for our office windows, I suggested that we should use blinds instead. I like the system itself - opening and closing. And you have options on how you want it to appear, either horizontal or vertical.

When I go home, I plan to change our curtains to blinds. I think that way we could save fabric materials rather than having them pleated, it consumes more fabric.

Domain Registration

26 10 2007

A lot of my friends and cousins asked me what is blog all about? And why am I so hooked into it. “I earn from from it”, I said with confidence. That’s the start when they asked some more information about problogging and even shown their interest.

I explained them that their blog has to be at least 3 months old with 20 posts or more, active and updated. I advised them to start with blogger, or otherwise get a self hosted domain. I had given them a website that could help them start from domain registration.

With every domain registration you get some features for free like:

24/7 Customer Support
Email Hosting
URL Forwarding
Management Tools
Domain Name Parking
Member Account
Renewal Reminders
FAST Domain Approval

If it’s not within your budget, you can view their pricelist online. Or otherwise, get your domain registered for two years and certain discounts will be given to you.

But you know what’s the best thing about this offer? The 24/7 Customer Support. I find this very important especially for those people who are not technically gifted. At least someone will be there to assist them anytime. Now I’m thinking of getting another one.

Internet Connection

25 10 2007

I’ve been thinking a lot whether to get an internet connection at home or not. My mind says go ahead but my pockets says don’t and wait till promotions are there. I’ve always wanted a broadband connection. I checked with our network or telephone provider if they are offering cheap broadband connection. They said that they are working on the promotional aspects and will soon release in the market.

I just wish that when it happens, I’m still here in Bahrain. Otherwise I’ll miss the great offer that they have in mind right now. But if not, I’m sure Philippines has the same offers. I was telling my mom that they should apply for an internet connection, at least we could talk and chat and update each other without having a telephone line or a land line. Anyway, we have a personal computer back home, all we need to provide is a connection to make everything happen.
