Question Tag

18 10 2007

Tin tagged me with this question:

What did you learn about yourself in the last year?

I had learned a lot in life for the past years, but last year put a remark. I officially became a mother and being a good and responsible mother takes a lot of effort and learning. Before getting pregnant, I was hesitant about myself being a mother. No. 1 reason? I’m not very capable and reliable when it comes to household chores. So how can I perform and attend to my daughter’s needs when I can’t even deal with the household well? But then, I said to myself “kung yung iba nga nakaya, siguro kaya ko din”.

I got pregnant. One of my work colleagues asked me, “Are you scared?” I said answered her honestly “yes, and I’m afraid too”. She consoled me by telling me “don’t worry Mitch, you’ll pick-up, take it from me, I even said the same thing to my mother”.

Until this day I still remember those words that she said.

So what did I learn about myself last year?

Mitch, you are doing good, you definitely can be a mother, just keep on learning

And to keep this meme go on, Feng, Kimmy and Arlene, would you mind if I ask you answer my question, please???

At your lowest point, whom do you turn to when you think there’s no one else left around but you?

Best Nights

30 08 2007

I was tagged by Cheche of Frechie’s World. Let me recall the 5 best nights I had in my life, hmmmmm….

1. November 4, 2004 - My Wedding Night. The same night when I became Derrick’s official wife. It was a blast. We had fun at the wedding reception. Close friends and families were present and celebrated with us. The party got over at almost 3am. And then…….. oh you know that! Hahaha!

2. May 21, 2005 - The night I saw two strips coming. It wasn’t planned! I didn’t even realized I was already 10 days late. It was my friend who reminded and asked me if I got it on time that month. Then I remembered! I bought the test kit. I was supposed to check it the next day but I couldn’t wait any longer, so I did that same night. That was it! I got two lines… The next day I called the hospital and scheduled myself for another check-up.

3. May 23, 2005 - Sleepless night. Not that I was bothered. I was soooooooo happy because I was going to be a mother - soon!

4. January 22, 2006 - It was the first time I stayed in the hospital over night. Though I was in pain, it didn’t matter at all…

5. January 23, 2006 - The night when I became a mother, officially. Need I say more? If you’re a mother, you would know….

I’m tagging Khristine, Rach and Yen.

The Day I Was Born

4 08 2007

I know two of Pinoy celebrities whom I share birthdays with : Vic Sotto and Romnick Sarmenta. But I never knew any of the special events (or holiday) that actually happened the day when I was born. Thanks Mommyness for making me aware!

What do I need to do?

  1. Go to Wikipedia and type in your birthday (month and day).
  2. Write down three events, 2 births, 1 holiday and tag 5 friends.
  3. There are five slots in the Birthday Meme. As you are tagged, you have to remove the name in the first slot and bump everyone up so that your name can be added to the bottom.

Let’s see what else had happened on my birthdate : April 28.

Three Events

Two Births

One Holiday

How cool is that? Hmmmm…

I am tagging:

High School Spirit

29 07 2007

High school days were the best! I had no second thought of posting this meme to my blog when I first saw it in Liza’s blog.

I graduated in St. Joseph High School - Olongapo City with a loyalty award. Yup, you’ve read it right - I was a loyalty awardee. I was there since grade school. If college was already there at that time, I would’ve enrolled myself there too!

1. Who was your best friend? Maricel. We fondly call her Chel. I’m glad we still are the best of friends. Distance was never a problem for us. We’ve managed to keep our friendship since graduation day and even after I left home. She’s now in Idaho, but we still keep in touch, almost everyday.

2. Did you play any sports? Never. It ’s not my thing.

3. What kind of car did you drive? Bump car bwehehehe!

4. It’s Friday night. Where were you? Just home. Those times, I wasn’t allowed to go on a night out with friends.

5. Were you a party animal? No. First of all, I don’t know how to dance. ;-)

6. Were you considered a flirt? No. Some said I’m the counterpart of Maria Clara. Ows? ;-)

7. Were you in the band, orchestra or choir? I’ve always been a school choir member.

8. Were you a nerd? Nope. I was normal nyahahaha! I didn’t mean that nerds aren’t. :p

9. Were you ever suspended or expelled? Never.

10. Can you sing the fight song? Huh? What’s that? ;-)

11. Who was your favorite teacher? Our 4th year class adviser. She’s the best!

12. What was your school mascot? I wonder if we ever had!

13. Did you go to the Prom? Of course. Baby sometimes love just ain’t enough, yihiiiiiiiiiiii!

14. If you could go back, would you? I won’t. I love where I am now and who I had become. But memories will always be there.

15. What do you remember most about graduation? Our graduation song was Heal The World. First three sections were 4-F, 4-O and 4-U (F-O-U-R-T-H Y-E-EA-AR-R-S). I belonged to 4-O. For some reasons, first section seemed to have their own world. They were like separate from the rest. There was a part in the song that sings “for you and for me and the entire human race…” Instead, we sung it like this “4-U and 4-O and the entire human race”. For us, it was just plain fun but that line became a big issue in the school.

16. Where were you on Senior Skip Day? Not that I know. Hehehe!

17. Did you have a job your senior year? No but I tried., with McDo. I passed the exam but failed the interview. I still remember the question though “How many times should you rinse the clothes when hand washed?” I quickly answered “till the bubbles are gone” mwahahaha!

18. Where did you go most often for lunch? I go home. It only takes 10 minutes to ride a jeepney anyway.

19. Have you gained weight since then? Oh yes! I’m positive with that hahaha!

20. What did you do after graduation? I took the exams in the following : UST > Fine Arts, passed. I find the tuition fee expensive; CEU > Tourism, passed. I just went with the flow; Adamson > Architecture, passed. Funny how I ended up taking BS Industrial Eng’g in Adamson.

21. What year did you graduate? I graduated from high school in 1993.

22. Who was your Senior Prom Date? Next question please…. Hehehe! Seriously, none. I was out with friends after the prom. Oh! Did you mean during the prom night? No one.

23. Are you going/did you go to your 10 year reunion? I didn’t make it. I was already here in Bahrain.

Let me dig my old purse tonight and see if my grad pic was still there. I’ll post it here.

I wanna hear from Arlene and Analyse.

An Interview By Arlene

18 06 2007

So what if I’m an interview addict hehehe! Here’s another interview done by my 4 year cyber friend, Arlene of Sunshine For Life, who is now also a blogger.

1. You’re a very passionate mom. Aside from being a passionate mom, what are things or aspects you are very passionate about?

According to my friends and cousins (especially), I have this “thing” when it comes to “advices”. Every word that I say hits them! May it be mild or with anger. You know that very well, di ba? Hehehe! I am a straightforward person and being such sometimes leads to people’s misconception about me.

2. Your cooking pictures looks yummy so i can imagine how you made them. Are you one of those types of cookers that likes to eat what they cook? And why? that “free” perosn?

It took me pots of courage to cook sis hahaha! No, I don’t even try it while cooking, I just get full and afraid that I won’t be able to have it if I do a taste test.

3. You have spent an ample time being young, single and free — the freedom that you can do whatever you want to do. What particular thing you missed about being

Just my income. Other than that no more. Even if I didn’t enjoy most of it, I had no regret coz I shared it wisely with my family. Somehow I got my reward already.

4. You have stayed for a long time in Bahrain, did the concept of building up your own business cross your mind? And if ever — what business would thrive well for a country like Bahrain?

It never crossed my mind. Not here. Coz I know I won’t be staying here all my life. But if ever, it would still reflect me being a Filipino. Promotion baga ng Filipino products hehe!

5. Would you entertain the idea of your hubby earning five times higher than what he is earning now but he is to work in another country and will be separated from you just like your dad being away from your mom and your kid/s growing up with dad so far away and just come home for a month vacation yearly?

As I have said in my previous entry, I am just a small dreamer. I love being simple. When things get big, that’s the time everything gets complicated. BUT… if he wishes to pursue, I’ll leave it up to him and Him. I don’t want to be a hindrance of his dreams. Especially when it is for the sake of his own family.Just like my dad, he had given his best and later got his reward by having me. Naks! He may not have succeeded financially, but his sacrifices were more than enough for us to recognize that what he had given to us is worth five times higher than the earnings he could have had (if he did not lose his job).

Again, here’s the drill:

1. Leave me a comment saying, “Interview me.”
2. I will respond by asking you five questions. I get to pick the questions.
3. You will update your journal with the answers to the questions.
4. You will include this explanation and offer to interview someone else in the same post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.

An Interview by Aloha Penny

16 06 2007

Di naman halatang interview adik ako di ba? :p Anyways, here are the questions from Aloha Penny.1. If you could be a dish what would it be and why?

Since “dish” is defined as any particular item of prepared food, I’d like to be a “halo-halo”, it’s a mixture of sweet ingredients topped up with milk and ice and sometimes garnished with ice cream or leche flan. It’s a replica of me *wink*. I could be as sweet as the halo-halo ingredients but somehow could be as cold as ice at times. Basta yun hahaha! Hirap naman…

2. What song would you not get tired of singing?

Don’t Cry Out Loud. My Karaoke National Anthem. I love the pitch, rhythm and meaning.

3. What is it that you want to impart to your daughter?

Sense of responsibility. She is only 16-month old (almost 17), she already keeps her toys in her toy basket once she’s done playing, she puts the lid back to her feeding bottle once she’s done drinking. It may be too early for her to be trained this way, but I guess everything should be taught while they are still young. I believe in “you can’t teach an old dog a new trick”.

4. If you could change anything in your life what would it be and why?

I think I have to pass… or better explain why I don’t want to change anything in my life… What I am now is a consequence of what I had been through in life including the hardships that I’d gone through. And “those” had made me a better person.

5. What’s the hardest decision you had to make in your entire life?

That’s when I left home in 1999. Being away from my family for the first time (and God knows how long) was the hardest decision and challenge I had.

So, do you wanna be an interview adik like me? Here are the rules:

An Interview By Zahflo

14 06 2007

Hihihihi! Adik ba sa interviews???! Here’s one by Zahflo. Thanks!

1. What are the challenges of having a non-Filipino husband?

Culture and differences. It’s not easy to eat Curry, a very spicy one when you are not used to it. But because I chose to be with him, I have to face and deal with whatever challenges that come my way. (Gawin bang example ang curry hehehe!)

2. What childhood memory do you have that you also want your daughter to experience?

The fun playing in the rain. It was always fun to get out in it.

3. If you had all the money and freedom, what would you do with your life?

I’ll use ‘em wisely. I’ll enjoy life but not to the fullest. Money comes and goes. Before you know it, you’re broke again if you don’t take it slowly. And if I had all the freedom, I will definitely use it fairly.

4. If you were given a choice, which generation would you prefer to be born in? (eg. 1900’s, 1950’s etc…)

I’d still choose the 70’s.

5. If you were a father (instead of a mother), how would you raise your daughter?

I’ll raise her the way my father brought me up!

Wanna be interviewed, here’s the drill:
